CityJet wins Airline of the Year 2008/9 Silver Award
CityJet has been awarded the prestigious European Regions’ Airline Association “Airline of the Year 2008/9 Silver Award.”
For the second year in succession the Irish airline has had its
achievements recognised by the leading body of European regional
aviation.
Accepting the award at the ERA annual General Assembly in Manchester, Chief Executive Geoffrey O’Byrne White, said that it was a great honour
for the company to have its achievements recognised by its peers within
the industry.
“Building on the success of last year’s award, this is an especially proud moment for all of us in CityJet.
In such a challenging economic environment, this award is a powerful
endorsement of our business strategy. It also recognises the hard work
and commitment of all our team coupled with the support and confidence
of our shareholder, Air France”, he said.
The ERA judges, comprising senior industry experts and independent
aviation journalists, cited CityJet’s clear business strategy for
achieving robust expansion at London City airport, continued solid
financial performance despite bold network expansion, on-going fleet
upgrade and good crew utilisation in making their selection.
Based in Dublin, CityJet employs 720 staff and operates 134 daily
flights to 14 European cities. The company has recently increased its
fleet to 25 Avro RJ85 aircraft and projects passenger figures in excess
of 2 million this year.
