Santa Claus takes to the skies early with CityJet
Santa Claus and his merry elves jetted off on a special flight today with 66 family members from Temple Street Children’s Hospital. The Christmas themed event was organised by CityJet, which has a long standing relationship with the hospital, giving sick children the chance to experience what it is like to fly.
Onboard the dedicated flight, departing from Dublin Airport, the children were met by CityJet cabin crew dressed up as elves who gave a special, interactive presentation. During the flight to the ‘North Pole,’ they were given gift bags filled with treats for the journey by Santa Claus himself. Afterwards, the kids were taken to the CityJet offices in Swords, where they were treated to a Christmas celebration. As an added Christmas treat, they also had the opportunity to meet the Irish Paralympians Catherine Walsh and Fran Meehan who CityJet sponsored this summer. The Paralympic silver medallists were on hand to meet and greet both the children and the staff.

Speaking about the CityJet adventure, Mona Baker, CEO, Temple Street Children’s University Hospital ‘Temple Street cares for over 133,000 children each year from all over Ireland and offers seven major specialities including neonatal and paediatric surgery, neurology, neurosurgery, nephrology, orthopaedics, ENT and plastic surgery. On behalf of the hospital, I would like to offer a sincere thank you to CityJet, which has been supporting Temple Street for the past ten years as part of their corporate dedication to children’s charities, for giving some of our patients and their families the opportunity to have a break from their treatment and enjoy some of the magic of Christmas,’
As Ms. Ourmières, CEO of CityJet, explained ‘Temple Street Children’s Hospital does outstanding work for Ireland’s sick children, providing leading paediatric care. Unfortunately, some of the children at the hospital have never been well enough to fly on holiday with their families, so we hope that with our annual Santa flight, we can share the joy of flying with the children and their families, hopefully helping them have a Christmas they won’t soon forget.’
