CityJet, the airline that flies from the heart of London, has established a permanent base in Edinburgh and increased the daily number of flights to Edinburgh from London City Airport.
Approximately 40 permanent CityJet staff will be based at Edinburgh Airport, comprising flight crew, ground staff and engineers. Staff have been transferred to the Edinburgh base from other CityJet locations, but any future staff vacancies will be recruited to work from the capital.
An extra frequency has been added to CityJet’s Edinburgh schedules which is a favourite for business travellers, bringing the total number of daily flights to four. The fourth rotation will give passengers more flexibility and choice when travelling, particularly at peak times.
Christine Ourmières, CityJet CEO, said: “The London City to Edinburgh is crucial to CityJet and will continue to remain an important element of the airline’s network. The fact that we’ve opened a permanent base in Edinburgh highlights our commitment to a future in Scotland and we are hopeful that the increase in daily flight frequencies will help to increase our market share of the London City route.
“Business passengers regularly use this service but it is also used by leisure passengers keen to experience a cultural break in Edinburgh or a golfing weekend.”
The new additional frequencies are as follows:
From London City to Edinburgh (Monday – Friday)
