As well as boasting Scotland's only full-time, ensemble theatre company, Dundee Rep is also home to a cracking restaurant that has received accolades. Bustling by day and laid back by night, the emphasis is on fresh, simple food served in a relaxed atmosphere. A classic French brasserie serving traditional and modern French cuisine, Bon Appetit sources ingredients as locally as possible. It prides itself on slow food with fast service. From cassoulet to roasted guinea fowl, everything on the ever-changing menu is given the care and attention it deserves. The small wine list is reasonably priced.

Dundee's smallest club, Underground is open from 8pm six nights a week in the basement of a townhouse in the cultural quarter. With drinks promotions, cocktails, DJs and a cool crowd, this is the bar to be seen in.

Built in 1903, The Speedwell is known locally as Mennies, after the landlord Henry Mennie who ran the pub in the 1920s. The Edwardian interior has mahogany panelling, etched glass, mosaics and, most importantly, snugs and nooks aplenty for cosy evenings putting the world to rights.

Three miles from the airport, and four from the city centre and rail/bus stations, this Travelodge is right on the main route through the city-ideal for those travelling on to Perth, Aberdeen, Glasgow and Edinburgh. Early check-in and late check-out is available.
