What identification do I need for travel on CityJet services?

  • For Travel to/from Continental Europe on CityJet operated services a valid passport is required.

  • For Travel to/from United Kingdom and Ireland the following rules apply in relation to the Common Travel Area between Ireland and the UK:
 

 

You must carry an acceptable form of photo-identification, examples of which are:

  • A valid passport
  • A driver's licence with photo
  • An international student card
  • A national ID card
  • A bus pass with photo
  • A Garda ID with photo
  • A work ID with photo

People with UK visas or residence permits.
If you are a citizen of a country whose nationals need a visa to enter the State and you have a valid UK visa or residence permit, you are still required to have a valid visa before you arrive in the State. Further information about visa applications can be obtained from the Department of Foreign Affairs or from Irish embassies and consulates abroad.

Are there any restrictions to the amount of baggage I can bring?

CityJet permits a free baggage allowance of 30 kilograms of checked baggage per Executive Class passenger and 20 kilograms per Leisure Class passenger. One small piece of hand baggage is allowed, which must not weigh more than 7kg and be less than 115cmin overall height/width/length.

For the safety and convenience of all passengers, hand baggage must fit underneath the seat or in the overhead compartment. Checked baggage in excess of your free baggage allowance is subject to excess baggage charges. The charge per kilo of excess luggage is calculated on the IATA rate on the day of travel.

What happens if my bag is delayed?

If you have an item of baggage that is missing a baggage report will be taken at the point of arrival, taking into account the type of bag, colour, identifying marks, a brief description of the contents and the delivery address for the property. Each passenger will be given a file reference and the contact details for local Baggage Services office. It is important that the File Reference is kept in a safe place as it will be required when contacting the baggage department.

What if I require Wheelchair Assistance?

Passengers who require wheelchair assistance are advised to make their reservation and arrangements for wheelchair assistance by contacting our Reservations Department on Dublin (01) 8700 300 London 0870 142 4343. This will allow us to ensure that we meet your specific needs during your travel with us.

 

Passengers travelling with wheelchairs must ensure that the chair is capable of being fully collapsed and must not exceed a total weight of 30kgs.

Do Infants have a free baggage allowance?

If the infant is not ticketed, no allowance is given. If the infant has a 10% ticket (international), 1 checked bag (Max 10kg) and one fully collapsible stroller is allowed. If infant has a 50% or more paid ticket, the normal baggage allowance applies.

For safety reasons a maximum number of 6 infants are accepted per flight. Once this quota is exceeded no further infant reservations may be made.

What are CityJet's pregnancy regulations?

For the safety and comfort of all pregnant women travelling by air, CityJet has introduced the following regulations:

Up to 28 weeks: CityJet will carry pregnant women without a doctor's certificate. CityJet's ground handling representatives may request the individual to sign an indemnity confirming that they are less than 28 weeks pregnant.

28 to 34 weeks: CityJet requires a doctor's certificate confirming that the passenger is fit and healthy and specifying the date that the baby is due. If a passenger between 28 and 34 weeks pregnant arrives to check-in without the required doctor's certificate, they must obtain same from their doctor prior to being accepted for the flight. If they cannot obtain same prior to their Check-In Deadline, their ticket may be revalidated for travel on the next available flight, after they produce the required certificate.

34 weeks and over: Pregnant passengers may only fly for urgent medical or compassionate reasons and must be accompanied by a Doctor. However the Captain of the aircraft my deny boarding to a pregnant passenger if the weather forecast for the flight is particularly unfavorable. It is the responsibility of all pregnant women to advise CityJet of their condition at the time of reservation.

What is CityJet's policy for the Carriage of Animals / Bicycles / Sports equipment?

CityJet do not permit the carriage of animals in the hold - TO/FROM GREAT BRITAIN/IRELAND, PETS IN THE CABIN ARE NOT AUTHORIZED, EXCEPT FOR GUIDE DOGS.

CityJet permit the carriage of bikes subject to a maximum of 2 bicycles per flight. The carriage of all sports equipment is subject to flat rate charges according to the type of baggage/weight allowance applied to your flight .

Can I transport firearms and ammunition?

Firearms/sporting weapons and explosive devices are prohibited on the aircraft at all times. Such items must be checked in, unloaded, packed separately and locked. Such items will form part of a passengers checked baggage allowance. Passengers who may be required to transport firearms must have in their possession at all times a valid firearms certificate stating their name and license number.

The transportation of ammunition is allowable provided it is for the individual's own personal use, is securely boxed, in quantities not exceeding 5Kg gross weight and is checked as part of a passengers hold baggage. Ammunition is prohibited in the cockpit and cabin at all times.

Passengers who carry firearms or ammunition are required to ensure that CityJet is made aware of the intention to carry such goods and allow sufficient time for check-in clearance of these items and its associated paperwork.

The following items are considered dangerous articles and are not permitted in the cabin of CityJet aircraft. Passengers must check these items as baggage:

  • Hunting knives
  • Butcher knives
  • Scissors
  • Switchblades
  • Sporting goods i.e. snooker cues, catapults, hurling or hockey sticks, sporting bats
  • Sharp Metallic objects

Do CityJet accept the use of infant car seats?

An infant car seat will be accepted for transportation of an infant (6months-2years) in the passenger compartment only when a child's fare ticket is purchased for the infant. Car seats must be forward facing and capable of fitting securely the onboard seat width of 19 inches. The infant seat must be properly secured by a seat belt at all times. Types not permitted:

  • Booster type car
  • Also CityJet has banned the use of vest and harness type child restraint devices. The approved child restraint seat may be used in any seat on the aircraft except:
  • Any seat in an emergency exit row
  • Any seat one row forward or aft of an emergency exit row
  • Any aisle seat, exception: if an adult is travelling with 2 infants one may sit in aisle. There are seat size restrictions depending on aircraft type.

Are there passengers CityJet could refuse to transport?

A passenger may be refused transportation on the basis of safety or if acceptance would violate Airline regulations. Not acceptable for transportation:

  • Passenger who is or appears to be intoxicated
  • Passenger with a contagious/communicable disease if the disease/infection is transmissible to others during normal course of flight
  • Passenger under the influence of drugs
  • Passenger requiring a stretcher kit during flight
  • Passengers who have a malodorous condition
  • Passengers not wearing some type of footwear or sufficient clothing
