Established in 1898, London Irish became a professional rugby club in
1996. There have been many developments over the years, including a move
to Madejski Stadium in Reading in 2000 where the club continues to play
all of its home matches. The Club was a Premiership finalist in the
2008/09 season and Heineken Cup semi-finalists in 2007/08. The 2010/11
squad includes 16 players with international caps from England, Ireland,
South Africa, Samoa, Tonga, New Zealand.
The team trains in Sunbury on Thames, Middlesex. This ground was
purchased in 1931 and remains the main administration and training
headquarters for the professional squad, it is also the base for the
London Irish England Rugby Academy and the Amateur Club.
